Thanksgiving Treats
My wife and I had an afternoon out on the town thanks to public transportation! First, Matthew Bourne’s, “Sleeping Beauty” at the Ahmanson Theater. Then wandering through the cavernous streets as the sun escaped the afternoon. Lastly, dinner at Bottega Louie. Did we take some macaroons home with us? You bet.
Of course, you don’t have to walk far from the Music Center to feel like you’ve seen a lot. Here’s a few offerings from the weekend:
The Music Plaza is a great space if you’re just starting to get an overview of downtown. Look! There’s City Hall! Now you’re oriented!
Night or Day, this is one of my favorite fountains in Los Angeles. I’m glad they made it more of a centerpiece with Grand Park’s redesign as kids can play around in the foot of the fountain.
With no aqueduct, there would be no Los Angeles. We’d still be a speck in a desert of dirt(literally). The DWP exhibit is open during the weekdays. I hope to visit it soon.
Most people know nothing of the large courtyard above Disney Hall. Along with on open amphitheater, there is plenty of space to find a nook of your own.
Also, if you’re looking to find a photographer to shoot your engagement photos, you have the opportunity to interview about a half dozen at anytime.
The Broad Museum and the adjacent residential building are taking shape. There’s not much of a hint yet of the fantastic design work of the museum yet at this stage of construction(as opposed to, say a Disney). If you look closely, you can see the exoskeleton start to take shape.
Look even closer, you can see the concrete has already been poured for the ceiling. I imagine the indirect lighting will become a signature feature that will set it apart from other museums.
Lastly, great to see art programs out there to reach kids. The sculpture by Nancy Rubins called “Airplane Parts”, is a great work of art that also caught the eyes of the children as they recognize what’s within the construction.

Hi there just wanted to give you a quick heads up.
The text in your article seem to be running off the screen in Opera.
I’m not sure if this is a format issue or something to do with internet browser compatibility but I
figured I’d post to let you know. The style and design look great though!
Hope you get the problem fixed soon. Many thanks
